Southside Day at the Lake Day: A Celebration of Community and Giving Back. This past weekend, the Southside came together for the 1st Annual Southside Day at the Lake, a vibrant celebration of music, food, and philanthropy. Organized by notable figures in the industry, including Yung Joc, Chaka Zulu, Torrey 100, and Ray Daniels, the event was marked by a generous giveaway of 1,000 laptops to local students, ensuring that technology is accessible to those who need it most. The atmosphere was electric, filled with live music that kept attendees entertained throughout the day. The stage was filled with the city’s stellar music acts including rappers Oj Da Juiceman, So So Def artist Rozay Da Youngsta, Mako Girls, Billy O Nat and more. Special guests included Rueben Wood, Corey Crum, Bryant Burns and more. Yung Joc even brought out a drum line for the affair, the Kipp Atlanta High School Band. Although both Ludacris and QC Founder P did not attend physically their presence was felt with the help of delivering laptops to the youth.

Atlanta’s favorite radio station Streetz 94.5 FM was front and center to support Joc with all of the exciting voices we hear on the radio in person including SMH Tay, DJ Jammin Jay, Bonnie Banks, Flexgameslim, and Mz.Shyneka. The team played a major part in keeping the vibes and good energy throughout the day. From the radio to the streets, 94.5 FM has the city covered.

Making this such a beautiful experience, children had the luxury to eat for free during the start of the event. A variety of food trucks lined the venue, offering delicious options that catered to all tastes. Local vendors showcased their products, allowing for networking opportunities and fostering a sense of community spirit. One of the highlights of the event was the honorable tribute to Jermaine Dupri. The music producer was honored with an award for his legendary contributions to the music industry presented to him by entrepreneur Sherie Phillips. Sherie, who works closely with Yung Joc, went through great lengths with the Mayor, Bianca Broom to award Mr. Dupri a proclamation from the City of College Park. His work has not only shaped the careers of countless artists including Usher, Mariah Carey, Jagged Edge, and Da Brat, but has also inspired many in the community. Jermaine Dupri, who is a College Park native, has been relevant on the music scene for decades, and his reign is still going today with his new artist rooster. The music legend gave exclusive interviews to Fox 5 Atlanta’s Joi Dukes and Live with Carisha / Shoot Works Media, Carisha J. Phill, the founder of Shoot Works Media produced the recap visuals and red-carpet media coverage also seen on Fox 5 news.

The children’s faces were without a doubt the most rewarding aspect of this event. 1000 children were enjoying the day, playing in bounce houses, experiencing the live band, eating water ice and just being kids on a warm Atlanta day. Not a sour moment from start to finish. The teams behind these legendary men including Sherie Phillips and Chasity Cox, two leading public relations gurus, held their clients down exceptionally.

Another notable part of the event was the appearances from the Acre Boyzz. These two progressive gentlemen are helping to spread awareness with the importance of land ownership in the community and are on a mission to create 10,000 new landowners. As rising humanitarians, they have already rubbed elbows with prominent figures such as 19 Keys and gave away 1 acre of land to a rewarding recipient at the event. Non-Profit Organization ‘Bear Strong’ also partnered with the coordinators to assist with the laptop giveaway.

Rapper Oj Da Juiceman took the stage as the headliner, delivering a special performance that had the crowd on their feet. His energetic set resonated with both young and old, making it a memorable experience for all attendees. Children were everywhere, their laughter and excitement adding to the festive atmosphere. The event aimed to not only provide resources but also to create a joyful environment for families to enjoy together.

Overall, the 1st Annual Southside at the Lake Day was a resounding success, showcasing the power of community and the importance of giving back. With the support of local artists and leaders, the event set the stage for future gatherings, proving that when we come together, we can make a significant impact.

After it was all said and done the event was much needed in the community and it was such a beautiful experience to witness so many powerful people all come together for the greater good of the children. As mentioned on Fox 5 The Bar Has Been Set High!
