Universal has unveiled the title of its upcoming film directed by Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) and treated audiences to the official trailer. The film, titled Abigail, stars Melissa Barrera and is helmed by the accomplished duo Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, known for their success with horror hits like Ready or Not, the 2022 installment of Scream, and last year’s Scream VI. Notably, this marks a reunion for Barrera with Radio Silence, as she previously starred in the “Scream” films.
Abigail features a stellar cast including Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, Alisha Weir, Giancarlo Esposito and the late Angus Cloud. The plot revolves around the kidnapping of a 12-year-old ballerina, the daughter of a powerful underworld figure. The captors aim to collect a $50 million ransom by watching over the girl overnight. However, as the group finds themselves in an isolated mansion, their numbers start to dwindle, and they realize with mounting horror that they are locked inside with a far-from-normal little girl.
Penned by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick, Abigail is produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt for Project X Entertainment, along with Tripp Vinson and Radio Silence’s Chad Vilella. Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher serve as executive producers. The film is set to premiere in theaters on April 19th, offering an intense and suspenseful cinematic experience.
