What initially motivated you to pursue music? Did you always know you wanted to be a musician?
I used to play drums for my dad’s church and have been in love with music ever since I was a child.
Did you channel any particular musical influences for the sound of “Hopeless Romantic”? How would you describe your signature style?
Honestly, anytime I write a song I go of the vibe that I feel off of the beat then I just go from there I’m very open with my writing and melodic approach so I’m just universal vibe when it comes to my style and approach
Why was it important for you to share a positive perspective of love and commitment in this song?
Because I’ve felt the pain of heartbreak on many occasions and I feel like we could all use a little more realistic and positive perspectives on the possibility of true love
How does “Hopeless Romantic” fit into the narrative and themes in the larger album, The Koronation?
So Koronation is correctly spelled coronation and it’s simply a ceremony when a king or queen revives their crowns it’s a 12 songs album that shares my life experiences all up to this point which is the time and point I take my seat and out my crown on so from track one to track 12 you get to know and feel the hurt Koro the in Love Koro the healing Koro the learning Koro the happy Koro the Horny Koro etc and exactly how I navigated and made it to the other side of all those human and life experiences you get a look into how a real Christian walk looks with no filter
Talk us through working with Will Thomas—what encouraged you to collaborate with him on the music video, and what makes you work well together as a pair?
Will has an amazing track record of excellence ever his genuine and pure heart made it a no-brainer that his heart and character matched his anointing and his skill so I knew we would get along perfectly and we did we talk often about how God truly had his hand on this project from start to finish and I’m grateful that beyond an amazing video, I got a brother in Will
What was the most rewarding part of bringing this story to life? Did you face any unexpected challenges or surprises along the way?
Absolutely a label committed to helping pay for video and travel etc at the time I was working a 9-5 and it was the day before the shoot they called me and said hey we can’t pay or help you get down there no more and didn’t even say sorry or nothing after months of preparing and getting ready that’s not the news anyone wants to hear so thank God I have some money saved and I was able to get to it and do the shoot but any time you are making a difference expect things to come up against the success of it the most rewarding was honestly seeing how the people who are attached to this video and it is a success was truly being blessed and inspired from the day of the shoot and even now to know that it’s bigger than me and effects more life’s than just mine if for sure the most rewarding part
Why do you think this song will resonate deeply with listeners?
Because we all are human and we all deserve to know feel and see how truly genuine and pure love feels and looks to know and feel it is possible for you so when that is heard felt or seen it resonates automatically humans are wired that way
In what ways does “Hopeless Romantic” represent your artistic identity? Do you plan to explore similar themes in the future?
You will hear a lot more songs themed around love God’s ways and this song represents me in every way every word and lyric is intentional and genuine.
