Can you share with us the personal journey or experience that inspired “Made a Way”?

Made a Way came about while serving time in prison confinement. During those years I spent there I witnessed so many people give up take their own lives or completely lose their sanity. But I could always hear God telling me that wasn’t it for me and I know he’s made way for me before and he’ll do it again so I held onto my Faith.

How do you believe this musical fusion of R&B and gospel helps convey your message of making the church a welcoming space?

Music is a universal sound so for me, R&B and gospel are the same, but I also know some people in the church who listen to gospel music may not listen to R&B because of the message. so if I can use the message of The Gospel incorporating today’s R&B I felt like I could bridge the gap a little bit with some Christian R&B. To give clarity like hey, we can still listen to those tunes and rhythms, but with a positive message of in Faith.

What does it mean to you to create a welcoming space in the church, especially for those who have experienced challenges like you have?

Creating a welcoming space in the church for me looks like we’ve all done wrong and fallen short at times in navigating this life because we are human. So to create a space where you can come not to be judged by the negative things you’ve done in life but know you are forgiven and allow for the positive aspects of a person to be magnified and cultivated while coming to the knowledge of faith in Christ without it being forced, That means everything.

Can you walk us through the creative process behind “Made a Way”? How did the song and music video come together?

The concept of the song is to just encourage just like it did for me. We all experience the ups and downs of life but, God brings us through every situation. The video is a depiction of the same just a different aspect of life, and God brings him through, just like he has done for many of us brings us through situations.

How do you see your music contributing to broader conversations about faith and inclusivity?

I see my music as a way to draw people from different walks of life who may not interact regularly but we all have had similar experiences ..which will lead to more conversation about how the Christian walk is very similar for everyone.

What kind of impact do you hope “Made a Way” will have, both within the church community and beyond?

The goal is still the same to spread the Gospel and Glory of the Lord.

What was it like collaborating with your childhood friend Adverage Joe as well as your sister and niece in their group The Unit on this project?

It’s a dream come true, this has been something I’ve always wanted. It also allows for others to hear some of the talents that I’ve recognized and been around most of my life. So I am more than grateful to have done a project such as this with family.

Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re excited about?

I’m very excited about an upcoming collaboration I’m going to be doing with Sunday’s Best gospel sing Tiffany Andrews but as always I’m excited for all future collaboration.

Have you received any memorable feedback or stories from listeners about the impact of your music?

I’ve had countless people who’ve been brought to tears and have shared with me their experiences and testimonies of how my songs have given them a better perspective and encouraged them. but I have to give all the glory to God because at the end of the day, this is what it’s about for me to spread faith through the gospel.
