The 43-year-old rapper received the honor during his closing shows with the Atlanta Pops at Atlanta Symphony Hall, where the award was presented by Mayor Andre Dickens, former Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, and Senator Raphael Warnock. The heartwarming moment was shared on T.I.’s YouTube channel, which boasts an impressive 4.25 million subscribers.
The significance of the Phoenix Award, the highest accolade from the City of Atlanta, aligns perfectly with T.I.’s recent philanthropic endeavors. Notably, he recently inaugurated over 140 units of low-income housing in his hometown neighborhood of Bankhead. Additionally, the rapper hosted his 18th annual turkey drive, distributing over a thousand turkeys in collaboration with Atlanta Mission, Project Pinnacle, and Next Level Boys Academy. The holiday drives were part of T.I.’s commitment through his non-profits Us or Else and Harris Community Works.
