Sway Calloway Makes Major TV Moves with POLARIS

Sway Calloway is a respected figure in the world of Hip Hop. He has been a staple at MTV for many years, hosting shows like TRL and also Sway in the Morning on Shade45. He has also been a producer, director, and actor. Currently, Sway has taken his years of experience at MTV and launched POLARIS, his very own television network focused on culture alongside TV executive Rahman J. Dukes and music historian, Shaheem Reid. They have been making major moves recently signing a partnership deal with Byron Allen and AMG Media Group to create content for HBCU GO, VOD as well as AMG properties including TheGrio. Content will be focused on culture, music and news with special coverage around cultural moments, the 50th year anniversary of Hip Hop, and an investigative series around Jam Master Jay.

“It’s important for us to showcase not only the amazing sports and news programming, but also the heartbeat of the HBCU and Black Experience,” said Byron Allen, Founder/Chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group, parent company of HBCU GO. “This new partnership with POLARIS will provide excellent programming for our HBCU GO audiences highlighting music, Black culture and more.”

With POLARIS, Sway is continuing his legacy, pushing the boundaries of Hip Hop culture and sparking meaningful conversations and artistic expression. As a voice for Hip Hop music lovers, Sway is continuing to bring Hip Hop to the forefront of our collective cultural consciousness. The POLARIS, HBCU GO, VOD as well as AMG properties partnership, will enable a more creative, holistic approach to Hip Hop, thereby enriching and celebrating the culture. This partnership will showcase the talents of artists from all walks of life and from all over the world, allowing audiences to get a true taste of the power of Hip Hop. We feel Rahman J. Dukes, Sway Calloway, and Shaheem Reid will be able to bring together the key players in Hip Hop and entertainment in order to foster collaboration and promote positive messages of unity.
