What inspired you to merge rap and rock elements in this song? I’ve always wanted to blend heavy metal
What inspired you to merge rap and rock elements in this song?
I’ve always wanted to blend heavy metal type grooves with hip hop artists like Diggidy, VOIS, and Frank Nit who rhyme with a rhythmic intensity that’s hard for todays’ trap artist to match. Once the initial music was composed the track showed me the potential for a powerful fusion. By focusing heavily on the grooves and the raw energy that both genres bring, We aimed to create a sound that captures the best of both worlds, delivering vibes that’s both hard-hitting and lyrically dynamic.”
Were there any specific influences or experiences that shaped the direction of the music?
“Rick Rubin’s groundbreaking work with Run DMC played a pivotal role in inspiring me to merge rap and rock elements in “Slam Dance”.
Can you elaborate on the storyline or visual concept of the music video and how it relates to the lyrics?
“The ‘Slam Dance’ music video draws inspiration from the electrifying energy of our live shows. We wanted to capture that raw, in-your-face experience for our fans who haven’t had the chance to see us live. The video is a visual representation of what it feels like to be front and center, immersed in the chaos and intensity as we go all out on stage. It’s all about bringing that visceral, high-octane performance vibe directly to the fans.”
What role do you think visual storytelling plays in enhancing the audience’s connection to your music?
“Visual storytelling is crucial in deepening the audience’s connection to our music. It transforms abstract emotions and messages into vivid, relatable scenes. Our music videos serve as powerful visual aids, amplifying the themes and energy of our songs. By merging compelling visuals with our sound, we create an immersive experience that resonates more profoundly with our listeners, making the story and emotions behind each track more impactful.”
What emotions or atmosphere were you aiming to evoke through the visuals, and how did you achieve this?
“For the ‘Slam Dance’ music video, we aimed to evoke the raw, unfiltered energy of our live performances. I-Rock nightclub in Detroit Michigan provided the perfect gritty, high-octane backdrop for this vision. We wanted viewers to feel like they’re right there in the midst of the chaos, experiencing the intensity and adrenaline of our shows. The club’s atmosphere, combined with our dynamic performance, allowed us to capture that down-and-dirty, rock-out vibe we thrive on.”
What role do your collaborators play in shaping the final sound and direction of the music?
“Our collaborators play a pivotal role in shaping the final sound and direction of our music. Working alongside incredible talents like VOIS, Diggidy, and Frank Nitt injects a competitive edge into our creative process. Each of these phenomenal lyricists pushes the boundaries, striving to outdo one another, which elevates the quality of our tracks. This friendly rivalry fuels our creativity and ensures every song we produce has that ‘wow’ factor.”
Do you feel that blending genres allows you to explore different facets of your creativity?
“Absolutely, blending genres has unlocked new dimensions of our creativity. It gives us the freedom to experiment with any style of music that inspires us at the moment. We’re not confined by traditional boundaries, and this genre-bending approach is like our secret sauce in the studio, adding a unique flavor to every track we produce.”
What was the most memorable moment or scene for you during the filming of the music video?
“The most unforgettable moment while filming ‘Slam Dance’ was when we were shooting outside the I-Rock night club. The energy was electric as people driving by started cheering and shouting out of their cars, treating it like a real live performance. Even pedestrians stopped to vibe with us, curious about what was happening. It felt like we had turned the street into an impromptu concert, creating an incredible atmosphere that added to the video’s authenticity.”
What has been the most rewarding aspect of creating both the song and its music video?
“The most rewarding aspect of creating both the song and its music video has been witnessing the incredible response from our fans online. After putting so much hard work into our craft as producers and artists, seeing people resonate with our music and react positively to the video is the ultimate payoff. It’s the icing on the cake, reaffirming why we do what we do. Def Machine forever, yo!”
