Mýa and Too $hort Give Us “Just A Little Bit” Ahead of Her New Album

On the heels of her chart-topping single “ASAP“, R&B icon Mýa is setting the tone for her next era with the release of her latest single, “Just A Little Bit,” featuring West Coast legend Too $hort. The track arrives as the newest preview of her upcoming tenth studio album Retrospect, slated to drop May 15 through her independent label Planet 9 in partnership with Virgin Music Group.

Just A Little Bit” taps into a nostalgic yet refreshing sound, blending flirtatious energy with a synth-heavy groove rooted in late-’80s funk. The record showcases Mýa’s signature confidence while Too $hort adds his unmistakable Bay Area flavor, creating a cross-generational collaboration that feels both classic and current.

Retrospect is shaping up to be a defining body of work for Mýa, described by the artist as a bridge between past and future. Sonically, the album pulls inspiration from the Minneapolis funk era of the late ’70s and ’80s while weaving in the R&B, soul, and pop influences that helped shape her artistry. Previously released single “ASAP,” which landed in the Top 20 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, along with its remix featuring 21 Savage, laid the groundwork for the album’s direction.

Beyond the music, Mýa continues to prove her longevity and cultural impact. In 2025, she celebrated the 25th anniversary of Fear of Flying and delivered a standout performance at the BET Awards. She also hit the road alongside Brandy and Monica, and is set to join The Pussycat Dolls on their upcoming North American tour.

With “Just A Little Bit,” Mýa isn’t just revisiting a sound—she’s reminding the industry why her influence still hits just as strong today. Stream the single below.
