A Florida high school teacher is facing multiple charges after authorities accused him of having an inappropriate relationship with a freshman student.
According to reports, 46-year-old Leroy Wright Jr., a former reading teacher at Miami Jackson Senior High School, was arrested following an investigation involving allegations tied to a male student. Police claim Wright kissed the student inside a classroom for several minutes and allegedly engaged in additional inappropriate conduct outside of school grounds as well.
Investigators say the case reportedly began after an anonymous tip was submitted to school administrators. Authorities later reviewed cellphone evidence and conducted interviews as part of the investigation before Wright was taken into custody.
Wright is now facing several charges, including unlawful sexual activity involving a minor and misuse of authority as a school employee. Reports also state investigators accused him of possessing inappropriate material involving a minor.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools reportedly removed Wright from his teaching position following the allegations.
