Matthew W. Huttle, 42, of Hobart, Indiana, who was pardoned by President Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot, was shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy on Sunday during a traffic stop.
According to the Indiana State Police, the incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. near the Pulaski County line. While the exact reason for the stop hasn’t been disclosed, authorities stated that Huttle resisted arrest, leading to a confrontation with the Jasper County deputy. During the altercation, the officer fired their weapon, fatally injuring Huttle.
State police confirmed that Huttle had a firearm in his possession at the time. However, no further details have been released, as the incident remains under investigation. The findings will be sent to the Jasper County prosecutor once the investigation concludes.
