LaQuan Smith Brings Children of Blood and Bone to New York Fashion Week With Exclusive Capsule Collection

LaQuan Smith is bringing the world of Children of Blood and Bone into fashion with a special collaboration unveiled during his Spring/Summer 2027 New York Fashion Week show.

The New York designer has partnered with Paramount Pictures to celebrate the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s acclaimed novel, creating a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by the film and interpreted through the distinctive lens of the LaQuan Smith woman.

The collaboration features three exclusive looks designed specifically around the world and visual identity of Children of Blood and Bone. The limited-edition pieces will be available exclusively through Moda Operandi, giving fashion audiences an opportunity to experience the connection between Smith’s aesthetic and the highly anticipated fantasy film.

The NYFW presentation also brought together several key figures connected to the project.

Director and co-screenwriter Gina Prince-Bythewood attended alongside stars Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, and Nigerian singer Ayra Starr. Artist and cultural consultant Laolu Senbanjo was also in attendance, further highlighting the collaboration’s intersection of fashion, film, music, and contemporary culture.

Directed by Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone transports audiences to the fantasy world of Orïsha, where a young woman embarks on a dangerous mission to restore the magic violently taken from her people. Alongside her brother, she joins forces with the daughter and son of the king as they challenge his brutal rule.

The film features an expansive ensemble cast led by Mbedu, Damson Idris, Stenberg, and Tosin Cole, with Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis among the featured cast.

The film is based on Adeyemi’s novel, with the screenplay written by Prince-Bythewood and Adeyemi.

For Smith, the collaboration represents another example of fashion extending beyond the runway and becoming part of a larger cultural conversation. By translating elements of Children of Blood and Bone into three original designs, the designer is creating a visual connection between the film’s expansive fantasy world and his own fashion language.

The partnership also arrives ahead of the film’s theatrical debut.

Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled to arrive exclusively in theaters, including Dolby Cinema, premium large formats, and IMAX, on January 15, 2027, through Paramount Pictures.

With the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, LaQuan Smith has given the upcoming film another platform—one where cinematic storytelling meets fashion, identity, and culture on one of New York’s biggest creative stages.
