Kickstarter is expanding its commitment to independent fashion creators with the launch of the Kickstarter Fashion Advisory Board, bringing together influential designers, media voices, and creative professionals to help emerging talent turn original ideas into reality.
The five-member board includes Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada, Raul Lopez of Luar, Brandon Blackwood, Recho Omondi of The Cutting Room Floor, and Milton Dixon III, stylist, creative consultant, and fashion ambassador at Kickstarter. Together, the group brings expertise in independent design, brand development, fashion media, and storytelling.
The initiative builds on Kickstarter’s Culture Fund and its Power of Belief brand campaign, reinforcing the platform’s mission to give independent creators access to resources, industry connections, and guidance while maintaining creative control and ownership.
“Independent designers are shaping culture, but often face challenges finding the resources and support to bring their ideas to life and build sustainable businesses,” said Kickstarter CEO Everette Taylor.
Through the end of 2026, board members will contribute creator guidance, media engagement, and shared content designed to increase visibility for independent fashion designers and connect them with valuable industry networks.
Launched in August 2026, the Kickstarter Culture Fund is a $1 million initiative supporting independent creators across art, fashion, film, and music. Funded entirely by Kickstarter, the program provides financial contributions to selected live campaigns, helping creators build momentum around their projects.
The Fashion Advisory Board further brings Kickstarter’s Power of Belief message into the fashion industry, emphasizing the role of community, collaboration, and shared investment in creative success.
