G Herbo Sentenced to Three Years of Probation

The legal team of G Herbo was successful in helping the rapper avoid imprisonment in a wire fraud case where he used stolen credit cards to fund his luxurious lifestyle. He was sentenced to three years of probation on January 11, 2023, after reaching a plea deal. The agreement included using stolen identities to finance private jets, a villa in Jamaica, and designer puppies.

The sentence was what Herbo’s attorneys had requested, despite the prosecution’s demand for a one-year prison term. They also suggested 36 months of supervised release after the jail time. In addition to probation, G Herbo was ordered to pay $139,968 in restitution and forfeiture, and a fine of $5,500. He had already paid $140,000, which was believed to be his profit from the $1.5 million scheme. According to the sentencing memo, the judge considered the seriousness of the charge and the protection of the public and decided that probation was an appropriate sentence.

The rapper was initially charged in late 2020, and the federal fraud case in Massachusetts accused him, his music promoter, and other crew members of using stolen identities to make extravagant purchases worth more than a million dollars over four years. The indictment listed 14 counts and revealed that G Herbo and his associates had scammed trips on private jets, limousine rides, exotic car rentals, a vacation at a Jamaican villa, and even designer puppies. The scheme revolved around the use of stolen credit card information and personal identities from sources like the ‘dark web.’ A charge of lying to agents was later added in 2023.
