From Service to Spotlight: An Exclusive Interview with Sarah Lee Vargas

Today we’re sitting down with the talented and inspiring Sarah Lee Vargas — a published model, brand ambassador, author, criminal defense advocate, and proud United States Navy veteran from Newark, New Jersey.

Sarah has built a powerful platform through her work in modeling, advocacy, and community impact, showing resilience, determination, and purpose every step of the way. Beyond the spotlight, she’s also a dedicated mother to her two children, Ricky and Chanel Dennis.

From serving her country to building her brand and using her voice to advocate for others, Sarah’s journey is one of strength, growth, and inspiration. Today, we’ll talk with her about her career, her experiences, and what she’s currently working on as she continues making her mark in multiple industries.

What first inspired you to pursue modeling, and how did your journey begin?

As a young girl, I always wanted to model and I started in 2017 for the hiphop group Naughty by Nature. 

Can you describe the moment you realized modeling could become a serious career for you?

When I realized I was getting more serious about myself and always wanted to collaborate with brands to help improve both aspects. 

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced breaking into the industry?

The biggest challenges were that there were a lot of different models also and how would I stand to be different. 

How has being a published model changed your personal or professional life?

 I have met many of great people in the industry and still continue to grow. 

What has been your favorite photoshoot, campaign, or publication so far, and why?

My book campaign that I am currently working on has been my favorite because I am entering a new side of business and the outcome has been great. 

How do you stay confident and motivated in such a competitive industry?

I continue to be true to self and surrounded by supportive colleagues. What advice would you give to aspiring models trying to get noticed today?

What advice would you give to aspiring models trying to get noticed today?

Have a sense of direction. 

How do you balance the creative side of modeling with the business side of the industry?

I think I have a natural way of the balancing act and always try to have an end goal for each project.

What projects, collaborations, or goals are you currently working on?

I am currently working on my book, Love Shouldn’t Hurt, which is available in all major retailers, and plan to do some more acting. 

Looking ahead, what do you hope your legacy or impact in the modeling industry will be? 

Hard work recognizes hard work and I hope to impact those who respect my work and elevate those by continuing my author journey.
