The It Is What It Is sports show host Cam’ron responded to the Adidas and Anthony Edwards commercial on his latest freestyle before the newest “It Is What It Is” episode. In the Adidas commercial, Anthony Edwards and a friend of his pulled up receipts of criticisms from different personalities. One of the receipts had Cam’ron who said, “To me, he’s an all-star, but he’s not a superstar yet.” Then, his friend said, “It is what it ain’t.”
Cam’ron freestyle over the Black Rob’s “Whoa!” instrumental wearing a Luka Doncic Dallas Mavericks jersey as he rapped about the commercial.
He rapped, “But f**k wrong with Ant-Man, gave him his props, homie got love from me, new commercial, y’all ain’t got love for me? He shot a jump shot and said “fuck buddy,”… Adidas, I’m blaming you, this is y’all fault… y’all think y’all got the b-ball version of Kanye? C’mon, stop it Duke. Y’all just stopping through. He do something y’all don’t like, you’ll drop him too. F*****g careers up, T-Mac, Derrick Rose, RG III, John Wall, let them know. Reggie Bush, Iman Shumpert, I’m on a roll. You know Kevin Ware? Google what was on his toes.”
On the It Is What It Is episode, Cam’ron did say he still has a lot of love for Anthony Edwards and doesn’t recall saying the All-Star comment this year. He did mention that he could’ve said it last season, but the entire “It Is What It Is” crew supported him throughout this NBA season.
Cam’ron said, “To be totally honest, when I seen the commercial, I thought it was a really dope commercial… To get my name mentioned in a national campaign, I can’t be mad at it. They ain’t say Skip Bayless, Stephen A Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Matt Barnes, they ain’t say Jay Will. They know who they watching. I am the voice, so people pay attention to what I say, and I appreciate them paying attention to what I say.”
He also said, “I’m really an Anthony Edwards fan. He’s 22, and you’re supposed to have that attitude when you’re 22. My real grip, to be honest, was Adidas. He’s the talent. I deal with the bosses. Listen, when I had Sebastian Telfair on the show, and he was dissing y’all, y’all called me. Y’all asked, “Could we work something out to where y’all don’t talk about Adidas on the show?” I don’t have beef with y’all… I don’t have a problem with [them].”
He worked with Arabia Iman on compiling a clip of past athletes who were injured by wearing Adidas products, all of whom he mentioned in his freestyle at the start of the show, as well as several other athletes, like soccer icon Lionel Messi.
