ALONZO Celebrates Self-Worth and Empowerment in Cinematic “WORTHY” Music Video

Los Angeles singer, songwriter, and performer ALONZO presents the official music video for “WORTHY,” a vocal-driven anthem about knowing what you deserve and refusing to abandon yourself in order to be loved.

Blending rock, pop, soul, and cinematic storytelling, “WORTHY” introduces the first visual chapter of a larger artistic era for ALONZO. The official music video is set to “WORTHY (Live),” with the live arrangement produced by Nathaniel W. James.

“I wrote ‘WORTHY’ at a time when my heart was just beginning to open again after being closed for a long period. The chorus came to me very simply and clearly: ‘I am worthy of love.’ It felt less like something I was trying to write, and more like something I needed to remind myself of.”

Written by ALONZO and produced by Quincy Holland, “WORTHY” turns self-worth into an anthem. Throughout the song, ALONZO calls for action, consistency, trust, and respect while confronting the difference between someone saying they love you and behaving in a way that demonstrates it. At its center is the simple declaration, “I am worthy of love.” What began as a personal affirmation became something larger, a universal reminder that love should never require a person to abandon themselves.

Directed by José “Hollywood” Ramos and filmed against the open landscapes of Lancaster, California, the “WORTHY” video transforms the song into a ceremonial reclamation of self-worth. Rather than following a traditional narrative, the film unfolds as a ritual, grounded in nature, elevated through fashion, and expressed through presence. It blends Afrocentric futurism, high-fashion editorial imagery, and natural landscapes to create a visual world that feels regal, timeless, and intentional.

The film is a love letter to women of color, with Black women positioned at its emotional and visual center. Through stillness, formation, movement, and direct presence, they appear not as background figures, but as the heart of the visual. The journey begins with ceremonial restraint and gradually expands into an explosive dance sequence. By the conclusion, “I am worthy of love” is no longer presented as a question or temporary feeling. It has become a permanent knowing.

Created independently and self-funded by ALONZO, the video reflects the scale of his vision and his commitment to producing meaningful work without compromising its artistry.

ALONZO is a Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, dancer, and performer known for his powerhouse vocals, commanding stage presence, and ability to move effortlessly between rock, pop, and soul. His career includes becoming a finalist on “America’s Got Talent,” headlining four sold-out tours throughout Asia, performing at Red Rocks, sharing the stage with Christina Aguilera, and serving as the lead vocalist for “4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince,” with approval from the Prince Estate. His original music has charted on iTunes, including “ENOUGH,” which reached the iTunes Rock Top 20. His performances and cover videos have generated more than 10 million views across platforms. In 2022, he was inducted into the Rockford Fine Arts Hall of Fame.

Outside of music, ALONZO is a certified meditation teacher and sound healer. That background informs work that explores healing, identity, self-discovery, and personal transformation while remaining commercially accessible. “WORTHY” is the foundation of a larger artistic vision encompassing music, cinematic visuals, meditation, and live performance.

1. What made you want to share the message behind “WORTHY” with the world?

I knew the message was bigger than my own situation. “I am worthy of love” is such a simple sentence, but many of us can say it before we fully live like we believe it. We may still make excuses for inconsistency or accept less because we are afraid of losing someone. I wanted to turn that private reminder into something people could sing loudly and carry into their own lives. Music has always helped me tell the truth in a way that conversation sometimes cannot, and “WORTHY” felt like a truth worth sharing.

2. You wrote the song during a time when you were opening your heart again. Was it healing for you to write it?

Absolutely. Writing it helped me separate the desire to be loved from the fear of being alone. Those are not the same thing, but they can become tangled when your heart has been closed for a while. The chorus arrived almost like a meditation. Repeating “I am worthy of love” allowed the message to move from an idea in my head into something I could feel. The verses then challenged me to be honest about what love looks like in practice. In that way, the song was both comforting and confronting, which is often what real healing feels like.

3. Your music blends rock, pop, and soul. How would you describe the sound of “WORTHY”?

“WORTHY” is a soul record with the lift and directness of pop and the conviction of rock. The melody is accessible, but the vocal is allowed to grow, push, and become emotionally raw. The live version takes that even further. Nathaniel W. James built an arrangement that gives the song room to breathe before it expands into something much bigger. I never want genre to feel like a cage. I follow the emotion of the song and let the sound become whatever best carries it.

4. The song reminds people not to settle for love that doesn’t respect them. Why was that message important to you?

Because people sometimes confuse having standards with being difficult or unlovable. I wanted to challenge that. Love should not require you to ignore your intuition, explain away repeated disrespect, or accept words with no action behind them. The song is not telling people to build walls. It is saying that an open heart still deserves protection. Knowing what you deserve does not make you cold. It helps you recognize the kind of love that can actually meet you.

5. The video moves from quiet moments into a big dance scene. What did you want that change to represent?

I wanted the movement to feel like the affirmation becoming embodied. At the beginning, there is restraint, stillness, and a sense that something internal is forming. As the video progresses, the world expands and the body becomes more expressive. By the time we reach the final dance sequence, worthiness is no longer being considered quietly. It is being claimed. The choreography gives the declaration a physical language, and the group energy turns an individual realization into something communal.

6. You’ve performed with major artists and toured internationally. What’s one experience that has helped you grow the most as a performer?

Serving as the lead vocalist for “4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince” changed me deeply. Prince’s music requires musicianship, range, physicality, and fearlessness, and the production carried the approval of the Prince Estate. I understood the responsibility of honoring that catalog without trying to imitate the man who created it. Performing that music with an orchestra, including at Red Rocks, taught me how to command scale while staying connected to the emotional detail of a song. It made me a stronger vocalist, but it also made me more confident in the value of my own artistic identity.

7. How do meditation and sound healing influence the way you create music and connect with your audience?

They have made me more aware of the energy underneath a performance. Technique matters, but audiences also feel whether you are present. Meditation helps me arrive in my body, listen more deeply, and create from intention instead of anxiety. Sound healing has expanded my understanding of repetition, resonance, and how music can shift a person emotionally. Even when I am giving a high-energy performance, I want there to be a real exchange with the audience. I want people to leave feeling more connected to themselves, not only impressed by what they heard.

8. Your music has reached fans around the world. What does that support mean to you?

It means everything because I have seen firsthand that specificity can travel. I have performed for audiences across Asia and watched people connect to songs even when we did not share the same first language. That taught me not to dilute the truth in order to reach more people. The more honestly I communicate, the more room there is for someone else to find their own story in the music. As an independent artist, every person who listens, shares, buys a ticket, or tells someone else about the work is helping me continue building this career. I never take that support lightly.

9. What can fans look forward to next, and is there anything you’d like to say to them before we wrap up?

Fans can hear the complete “WORTHY” album now, including different expressions of the song and “WORTHY: A Guided Meditation.” The next major moment is “The WORTHY Experience” at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on November 4. I am bringing the music to life with my band and building a concert that feels as intentional as the video. To everyone supporting this chapter, thank you for growing with me. You were never waiting to become worthy. You already are.
