YE Makes History in Chicago With Two Sold-Out Nights at Soldier Field

142,000 fans packed the stadium across two nights as YE brought a star-studded celebration of Chicago and his influential catalog home.

YE turned Soldier Field into the center of the hip-hop world this week, delivering two sold-out performances in Chicago that drew approximately 71,000 fans each night and 142,000 fans combined on September 3 and 4.

The historic homecoming was part of the YE Live Stadium Tour, a 100% independently promoted stadium run produced by IKON Presents. The Chicago shows showcased YE’s ability to operate on a massive scale outside the traditional corporate touring system while bringing together some of the biggest names in hip-hop.

A Chicago Homecoming

Night One immediately established the significance of YE’s return.

Walking onto the Soldier Field stage to “Homecoming,” YE repeatedly performed the Chicago anthem as tens of thousands of hometown fans welcomed him back. The performance moved across more than two decades of music, highlighting the depth of a catalog that has influenced multiple generations.

The night also became a celebration of longtime collaborators and Chicago legends. Big Sean joined YE for “Clique,” while 2 Chainz appeared for “Mercy.” Chicago icon Twista delivered performances of “Slow Jamz” and “Overnight Celebrity,” and Future brought his Atlanta presence to the stadium.

YE ultimately closed the night with “Runaway,” one of the defining records of his career.

A Star-Studded Second Night

Friday’s performance elevated the weekend even further, bringing together an extraordinary lineup that included Chief Keef, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Rick Ross, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Young Thug, CyHi, GLC, Really Doe, Consequence, Twista, Common, Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi.

One of the night’s biggest moments came when YE and Kid Cudi reunited onstage, giving fans the opportunity to witness two artists whose collaborations helped shape modern hip-hop reconnect in front of a massive hometown crowd.

Travis Scott watched from the audience, joining fans in singing along to “Pursuit of Happiness.”

Chicago’s own Lupe Fiasco also returned to his celebrated verse on “Touch the Sky,” while a backstage reunion featuring Common, Lupe Fiasco, Twista and Big Sean became a snapshot of Chicago hip-hop across generations.

Another emotional moment came when YE played a voice message from Lil Durk before performing “All My Life,” prompting a massive stadium-wide singalong.

Independent at Stadium Scale

Beyond the performances, the Chicago shows represent a significant moment for independent touring.

The YE Live Stadium Tour is operating without Live Nation, AEG or another major corporate touring partner underwriting the U.S. stadium run. Working alongside YE, IKON Presents has handled promotion and production, including ticketing, venue execution, logistics and the infrastructure required to stage a stadium production of this size.

The Chicago attendance follows YE’s massive performance at the New Orleans Superdome the previous week, which organizers say reached approximately one million fans.

For IKON Presents, the Chicago weekend further demonstrates that independent entertainment companies can operate at stadium scale while challenging the traditional structure of the live-music business.

Giving Back to Chicago

YE’s homecoming also extended beyond the stage.

Through Donda’s House, an initiative honoring the legacy of his late mother, Dr. Donda West, hundreds of tickets were provided to Chicago students, youth leaders, community organizations and Chicago Public Schools communities.

The effort gave young people from across the city an opportunity to experience the sold-out celebration while connecting the weekend’s focus on music, creativity and culture with the next generation of Chicago talent.

The Stadium Run Continues

Chicago was only the latest chapter.

The YE Live Stadium Tour will continue with three additional U.S. dates:

• Houston — October 31, 2026 — Reliant Stadium
• Dallas — November 7, 2026 — AT&T Stadium
• Phoenix — November 21, 2026 — State Farm Stadium

After New Orleans and two historic nights in Chicago, YE’s independent stadium run continues to challenge expectations about what an artist-led touring operation can accomplish.

For one weekend, Soldier Field wasn’t simply a concert venue. It became a celebration of Chicago, hip-hop history, collaboration and the lasting impact of YE’s music.

YE came home. Chicago showed up. And 142,000 fans witnessed history.
