TheRealSkitso Is Putting Buffalo Production on the Map With “Mercy”

In a hip-hop landscape where artists often compete for the spotlight, TheRealSkitso has built his career from a different position. The Eastside Buffalo, New York native is a producer first and an artist second, using his ability behind the boards to create records that bring different voices and styles together.
That approach is on full display with his upcoming single “Mercy,” featuring M.O.P., Styles P. and Kokane.
Produced by TheRealSkitso, “Mercy” is scheduled for release September 1 across all major streaming platforms. The record represents another step forward for a producer who has spent years developing his sound and building relationships throughout hip-hop.
TheRealSkitso’s connection to music began at 16, when the work of Gang Starr inspired him to begin making music himself. That early introduction to hip-hop’s combination of production, lyricism and storytelling helped shape the creative foundation he continues to build on today.
Rather than limiting himself to one particular sound, TheRealSkitso describes his musical style as versatile. That flexibility has allowed him to work with artists from different regions and generations while maintaining his own production identity.
His previous work includes “Well Connected,” a collaboration with Kokane and Tha Eastsidaz that brought together Buffalo and West Coast hip-hop. The record also gave listeners another glimpse into TheRealSkitso’s ability to create music around established artists while allowing their individual styles to remain intact.
“Mercy” takes that concept even further.
M.O.P., Styles P. and Kokane each bring years of experience and recognizable identities to the record. M.O.P.’s explosive energy, Styles P.’s New York lyricism and Kokane’s West Coast influence create an interesting combination, with TheRealSkitso’s production serving as the foundation that brings the different elements together.
For the Buffalo producer, that ability to connect artists may be one of his greatest strengths.
His Eastside roots remain an important part of his identity, but his growing list of collaborations demonstrates that his creative reach extends well beyond Western New York. At a time when Buffalo continues to receive greater recognition for its contributions to hip-hop, TheRealSkitso represents another example of the talent developing outside of the industry’s traditional centers.
What makes his story particularly interesting is that he isn’t chasing the spotlight simply for the sake of visibility. His focus remains on creating quality music and developing records that can stand on their own.
That philosophy goes back to the reason he started making music in the first place.
Gang Starr inspired him at 16, but years later, TheRealSkitso has developed a sound and creative identity that belongs entirely to him.
Now, “Mercy” gives him another opportunity to showcase that evolution.
The September 1 release isn’t just about the names attached to the record. It’s about the producer responsible for bringing those voices together.
As TheRealSkitso continues to build from Eastside Buffalo, “Mercy” serves as another reminder that some of hip-hop’s most important contributors aren’t always the ones standing in the center of the stage.
Sometimes, they’re the ones creating the sound that makes everyone else step into the spotlight.
