Anderson .Paak is back with a genre-bending new project that brings together the worlds of hip-hop, R&B, and K-pop.
Released on Friday, K-POPS! (Music From and Inspired by the Motion Picture) serves as both a soundtrack and a standalone album tied to Anderson .Paak’s directorial debut film K-POPS!. Rather than feeling like a traditional movie soundtrack, the 17-track project plays like a full Anderson .Paak album packed with live instrumentation, funk-inspired grooves, and international collaborations.
The album features appearances from JID, G-Dragon, aespa, DEAN, JO1, Kevin Woo, Joshua of SEVENTEEN, HONGJOONG of ATEEZ, and SOYEON of (G)I-DLE, creating one of the most ambitious cross-cultural releases of the year.
One of the project’s most personal moments comes through the inclusion of .Paak’s son, Soul Rasheed, who appears on the album and stars alongside his father in the accompanying film. The movie itself follows a struggling musician reconnecting with his son while navigating the world of K-pop, a story inspired in part by Anderson’s own family experiences.
To celebrate the release, .Paak also unveiled the video for “Caution” featuring NMIXX, adding another visual chapter to the album’s rollout. Earlier singles including “Aftertaste” with DEAN and “Keychain” featuring aespa helped build anticipation leading into release day.
For longtime fans, K-POPS! showcases exactly what Anderson .Paak has built his career on: blending genres, embracing new cultures, and making music that refuses to stay in one lane.
