The final major sentencing connected to Matthew Perry’s ketamine overdose death is officially approaching.

According to the Associated Press, Perry’s longtime personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa is expected to become the last defendant sentenced in the high-profile investigation surrounding the Friends star’s 2023 death. Prosecutors are reportedly seeking a sentence of three years and five months in federal prison.

Court filings reveal Perry’s mother and sisters accused Iwamasa of betraying the actor’s trust after being hired specifically to help support Perry’s sobriety and daily wellbeing. Prosecutors say Iwamasa illegally obtained ketamine through underground sources and repeatedly injected Perry without medical training, including on the day the actor died.

Authorities also allege Iwamasa attempted to destroy evidence following Perry’s death by discarding syringes, ketamine vials, and sensitive documents tied to the drug purchases.

The case became one of Hollywood’s most shocking overdose investigations after federal prosecutors charged multiple individuals, including doctors, dealers, and suppliers, connected to the ketamine distribution network surrounding Perry. Several defendants have already received prison sentences, including alleged supplier Jasveen Sangha, nicknamed the “Ketamine Queen,” who was sentenced to 15 years earlier this year.

Perry, best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, died in October 2023 at age 54. His death was ruled an accidental ketamine overdose with drowning listed as a contributing factor.
