Shark Tank is officially leaving Los Angeles and heading to Atlanta.
According to reports, the longtime ABC business competition series will begin filming future seasons in Georgia, marking another major entertainment win for Atlanta’s already booming film and television industry. The move reportedly comes as production companies continue shifting projects away from California in search of lower costs and larger tax incentives.
Atlanta has quietly become one of the biggest production hubs in the country over the last decade, hosting everything from Marvel films to major reality shows, scripted television, music videos, and streaming content.
Even bigger? Reports confirm Shark Tank’s new filming home will be Tyler Perry Studios, one of the most recognizable production campuses in the country. Production for Season 18 is expected to begin there in June.
The show, which features entrepreneurs pitching business ideas to celebrity investors, has aired on ABC since 2009 and remains one of television’s most recognizable competition series.
Reports also note the production shift is expected to bring additional jobs and economic activity into Georgia’s entertainment sector, continuing the state’s rise as a major player in Hollywood-level production, with Atlanta taking the lead as the “new” Hollywood.
