The-Dream is back in his bag, and he’s not easing into it. The R&B hitmaker just dropped his new single “Bring That Body,” and it feels like a direct return to the sound that made him a problem in the first place. Smooth, toxic, a little cocky. Yeah, it’s all there.
“Bring That Body” serves as the first official offering from his upcoming album LoveHate 2, the long-awaited follow-up to his 2007 classic and one of our personal R&B favs, Love/Hate.
After years of dropping projects independently, LoveHate 2 also marks a new chapter business-wise, with Dream linking up with Republic Records through his Dreamboy imprint. That alone signals this rollout might hit a little different for the songwriting King who helped shape an entire era of R&B.
If you know Dream, you already know the formula. Layered vocals, slick talk, and that signature blend of sensual and reckless, and on this record, he clearly leans right into it, but let’s be clear: “Bring That Body” isn’t a comeback attempt, it’s a reminder.
