Shyne Returns to the Stage for 25th Anniversary Concert at Kings Theatre

Hip-hop history is coming full circle as Shyne prepares to return to the stage for a special 25th anniversary performance celebrating his self-titled debut album. The legendary rapper will headline a one-night concert at Kings Theatre on Saturday, May 2, 2026, marking his first major U.S. performance since stepping away from music to serve his country.

The concert represents both a personal and cultural homecoming. Though born in Belize City, Shyne spent his formative years in East Flatbush, making his Brooklyn return especially meaningful. Now living in Belize, where he serves as Opposition Leader in the House of Representatives, the artist-turned-politician is set to revisit the raw hip-hop sound that first made him a household name.

Discovered in the late 1990s by producer DJ Clark Kent, Shyne rose to prominence after signing with Bad Boy Records. His debut album Shyne (2000) debuted at No. 2 on the charts and spawned hits including “Bad Boyz,” “Bonnie & Shyne,” and “That’s Gangsta.” He later followed with Godfather Buried Alive in 2004, further cementing his place in rap history.

Since then, Shyne’s life journey has taken an unexpected turn. After overcoming wrongful incarceration, he dedicated himself to public service in Belize, becoming the first rapper ever elected to the nation’s House of Representatives. His story was recently chronicled in the Hulu documentary The Honorable Shyne, released in 2024.

The upcoming Brooklyn concert will feature special guest appearances yet to be announced and is expected to highlight the evolution of an artist whose legacy now extends beyond music. For longtime fans, the night promises a rare opportunity to witness a hip-hop icon reclaim the stage where his story began.
