Lecrae Rebuilds the Sound of Hope with “Reconstruction” Album Listening Event at City Takers in Atlanta

On Monday, July 21, 2025, Grammy Award-winning artist Lecrae unveiled his tenth studio album, Reconstruction, during an emotionally powerful and purpose-driven release event hosted at Atlanta’s City Takers. More than just a musical debut, the evening served as a deeply personal moment of testimony and healing — a celebration of faith, resilience, and giving back. The album, consisting of 19 tracks, is a bold return to Lecrae’s spiritual and lyrical roots, featuring high-profile collaborations with Atlanta heavyweights Killer Mike and T.I. The project fuses Lecrae’s signature blend of gospel, hip hop, and testimony-laced storytelling, creating a sonic experience aimed at inspiring transformation — both personal and communal.

All proceeds from the night went directly to a Back-to-School Fundraiser, supporting elementary, middle, and high school students in need of supplies, uniforms, and resources for the upcoming school year. This act of service reflected the album’s core message: rebuilding from the inside out, and using one’s voice for something greater.

During the event, Lecrae opened up about the deep personal pain behind Reconstruction. The album was born in the aftermath of losing his cousin — a brother figure — to substance abuse just last July. In a raw, heartfelt moment, Lecrae revealed his own struggles with addiction, and how he’s now seven years sober from pills and alcohol. “This album is me rebuilding the pieces of myself,” Lecrae shared with the crowd. “It’s a reconstruction of my voice, my faith, my foundation. I’ve been through the fire, and by God’s grace, I’m still standing — and I want to use that strength to bring people closer to the Kingdom.”

With tracks that explore grief, identity, recovery, and redemption, Reconstruction is more than just music — it’s ministry. Lecrae continues to redefine what it means to be a Christian hip hop artist in a culture often plagued by chaos, using his platform to uplift, heal, and lead. The release event wasn’t just a listening session — it was an altar call, a safe space, and a mission in motion. If Reconstruction is Lecrae’s way of rebuilding his spiritual voice, then Monday night was proof: it’s stronger than ever.

Lecrae’s single, “Tell No Lie” drops this Friday, July 25 th . If you would like to preorder the Reconstruction album be sure to visit www.workshop.lecrae.com.
