Consequence Drops Second Single “Overdose” Featuring YNW Melly

Hip-hop veteran Consequence is back with his second single, “Overdose,” featuring the controversial and talented rapper YNW Melly. The track, produced by Timbaland’s hitmakers Angel Lopez and Fede Vindver, with co-production by Consequence himself, delves deep into the struggles of addiction and the complexities of human dependency.

A coincidental encounter while working on music with YE and Timbaland in Miami, YNW Melly crashed a studio session leading to this spontaneous and creative collaboration resulting in this powerful track. And this unexpected collaboration perfectly pairs YNW Melly’s signature melodic flow and Consequence’ vivid artistic storytelling.

More than a song, “Overdose” is a reflection on the dangerous allure of narcotics and other life dependencies that can lead individuals down a perilous path. The record’s inspiration came from Consequence’s personal experiences and observations, as he witnessed loved ones grappling with the temptations that often result in addiction. The chorus, “We can start fresh in the morning long as we don’t overdose,” offers a glimmer of hope, emphasizing the possibility of redemption and new beginnings.

Consequence further explains the significance of the track, “My fans have always known me to deliver concepts and stories that hit home. ‘Overdose’ is in line with these records from my catalog and having YNW Melly on here as his last feature before his case just makes it more historic.”

This release follows the success of Consequence’s previous single and continues to build anticipation for his upcoming project. “Overdose” is a testament to Consequence’s storytelling ability to craft music that resonates on both a personal and cultural level, blending introspective lyrics with top-tier production full of soul.

The visuals to “Overdose” are set to drop on Monday August 12th and is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
