Tour life is often seen as a dream for artists. How has your experience been so far on the road, and has it lived up to your expectations?
Tour life has been amazing. It’s truly a blessing. You really see the road of hard work you put in as an artist because of the personal connection you have to your fans from city to city. It’s the greatest feeling ever and it’s a ton of work with traveling and interviews. It’s a lot of long nights and short days but I love it. It definitely lives up to my expectations and I look forward to touring a lot more as my career is growing greater and greater every day.
Memphis has a rich history in music, especially in the rap scene. Before relocating to Atlanta, how has growing up in Memphis influenced your sound and style as an artist?
Growing up in Memphis has taught me how to be tough and to be a leader which has helped me understand how to deal with any type of circumstances whether good or bad this music business throws my way. Memphis is a tough city and for me its “if u can make it there you can make it anywhere” from the streets to coming up in a tough school I’ve been through a lot and seen a lot in Memphis so I was mentally ready to go hard and put the work in and dedicate myself to anything I wanted to pursue and music has been a blessing for me to go at so Memphis is in my heart forever.
Your music often addresses social issues and personal experiences. How do you navigate the balance between staying true to yourself and appealing to a broader audience?
I always keep a balance by being aware and always implementing my life experiences from day to day into my art of music so my audience can always connect to me from every vision that I have. From my social life experiences to how I feel about what’s going on in the world or going to speak to over 300 kids coming up in a rough environment in the city where I’m from (Memphis). I always like to express that in some form in my music so my audience from all races and from all parts of the world can see where I’m coming from and hear something they can relate to or just respect because they like the message that I presented to them so it gives me a good balance for everything that I do in this music business by just speaking from my heart and daily experiences and I never talking about something I know nothing about i just keeping it real.
What are your future goals as an artist in terms of your music and your impact on the industry?
My future goals are to have a team of success. That means my family, my music team (Team Trub) and my closest friends are all successful, really the people that have supported me and been on this journey with me from day 1 successful. I believe that’s true success and I want to give the world as many albums and great songs from hip hop to rock as I can produce from the videos to world tours I want to give the world endless Trub and inspire people to be great I want my impact on this industry to be special and transcendent I want every label executive, radio personality, DJ & artists to know that Trub put the work in and he truly cared about his craft he wasn’t in it just for the money he was in it to be great he never took any short cuts he kept it 100 all the time he stayed true to himself and his word and most of all he left it all on the stage and he never cheated us. I want to go down as one the greatest to ever do it because I just want to be the greatest Trub I can be and that’s the Iron chef of hip hop cooking up nothing classics.
Your music often carries powerful messages. Can you tell us more about the inspirations behind your lyrics and the impact you hope to make with your music?
My inspiration comes from my family and my parents. They inspire me every day because they go hard for me and I love them with all my heart. They push me every day to be a better man and be better in life in general. I think about everything I’ve been through and anything new that I go through that’s what pushes me to put amazing words down with my pen. The impact I want to make is that people from adults to kids hear my message, hear my life experiences, hear my story and learn from them and hear things they can relate to and see where I’m coming from and be on the same page with me. So, when they come to see me perform it makes their experience and my experience that much greater.
