The legacy of late Mexican-American rapper MoneySign Suede is being celebrated by today’s release of “Playground (Ft. Sada Baby),” available now via The Machine Works/Atlantic Records HERE.

“Playground (Ft. Sada Baby)” heralds the much anticipated arrival of THE CHOSEN ONE, arriving Thursday, April 25 – the one year anniversary of MoneySign Suede’s untimely death at California’s Correctional Training Facility in Soledad State Prison. Completed prior his incarceration, the project is available now for pre-order HERE.

Born to Mexican immigrant parents, MoneySign Suede – a.k.a. 22-year-old Jaime Brugada Valdez – grew up surrounded in the East LA neighborhood of Huntington Park, where he immersed himself in his love of family, sports, and rappers like Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Working with a trio of homies, he began writing verses and recording, with his first official song quickly earning 30K streams on SoundCloud. In 2020, Suede recorded his viral breakout single, “BACK TO THE BAG,” garnering the attention of manager TK Kimbro – the creative force behind West Coast phenoms Shoreline Mafia, 03 Greedo, and others. The success of the braggadocious track – recently featured Netflix’s The Vince Staples Show and joined by an official music video now boasting over 15M views on YouTube HERE – led to a deal with The Machine Works/Atlantic Records and Suede instantly got to work. A short detour occurred as Suede began a ten-month sentence in connection to a prior case. Before turning himself in, Suede recorded over 20 singles and music videos in about a three week period, including tracks like “Too Late,” “Poppin,” and “She Gon Choose (Ft. Lil Weirdo),” which together have amassed over 22M YouTube views thus far. Upon his release, Suede picked up where he left off with a string of hits that saw him become one of the top names on the bustling LA rap circuit. In September 2022, Suede released his debut mixtape, PARKSIDE BABY, featuring guest appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Remble, Fenix Flexin, and more. Hailed by AllMusic as “a sprawling, inventive, well-produced record,” the project featured such singles as “Can’t Change,” “Millions,” and “No Love,” all of which furthered his increasing fame and popularity. PARKSIDE SANTA, a companion mixtape, followed in December. That same month saw Suede sentenced to serve two years and eight months on two charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun. Before turning himself in, Suede hit the studio hard and recorded a span of tracks – including “I’m Doin Me,” “Lotta Cash,” and “Different Now“ – that sadly comprise his posthumous final release, THE CHOSEN ONE.

THE CHOSEN ONE will be accompanied by a powerful documentary directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Andy Capper, known for his work with Vice Media including acclaimed projects featuring such stars as Snoop Dogg, ASAP Rocky, Chief Keef, and others. Exclusive premiere details will be announced soon.
