Last night, ATL Top 20 hosted a listening session for P$C – Young Dro, Macboney, Big Kuntry King, and Tip, giving the tastemakers of Atlanta a glimpse of where to look for more timeless music in 2024. We all know the history of this group that kick down doors in music; letting in Grand Hustles most valuable players. The group gave us many classic records collectively and individually that live rent free in your head after all these years. But even that wouldn’t prepare you for how the group is giving it up in 2024.

P$C set the bar high withholding no great concept, rap cadence, melody, vibe or punch line. The night was hosted at Super Sound Studios in Atlanta. With many DJs media and influencers in attendance, including TI’s son, King and Domani. Legendary people came to hear the new music such as Bigga Rankin Hitmaker Daye Nu face and many others. The group gave us 6 songs to preview making the attendees struggle to choose a favorite. My personal favorite is already out on all platforms “Switch” and is sweeping the internet with a cleva challenge allowing fans to be creative by switching the camera view , clothing, hair etc. while vibing to the song.

Well, At least I thought it was my favorite until I heard “ Straight from the A” featuring DC Young  Fly. This classic record gives us vivid pictures of Atlanta with a feel good familiar sound. I will not spoil the initial reaction by sharing to many details. But!! Let’s just say if you remember slangin Brillo’s in 1997 then you will definitely  appreciate where P$C hustled. Big Kuntry King stated “ if your not from the A you will feel like you are”, making the record a must hear amongst the records played. 30 seconds into playing the song Bigga Rankin demands the record be ran back with a strong crowd reaction that agreed!! In that moment you knew you heard one of many records you will need in your playlist.

We enjoyed all the records!! They gave us some music for the ladies such as “Real One” and a bop in almost every track for the Atlanta music lovers. It wasn’t long before we knew we were witnessing history in the making. The element of surprise and excitement kept the party in high energy when you heard the producers tags before the song started. With producers like Zaytoven and others, we wanted to hear more. The entire room could have ran through another 20 records easily as Bishop of Atl Top 20 advised we hadn’t heard nothing just yet. But the King Tip Harris cut the music short advising they replay the ones we heard already.

Mr. Harris was not in attendance as his schedule pulls him in many directions, but like a true boss he made himself fully available via FaceTime for the entire listening session. That’s admirable and it speaks to how he is still dominating with little effort in 2024. You don’t become a boss by just calling shots. A true boss is responsible for the execution and Tip showed us exactly that by getting this night done by any means necessary. That’s a true hustler, and not one bit of surprising from an empire built around the hustle.
