Barack Obama, affectionately dubbed America’s “forever president,” has unveiled his curated list of favorite songs for 2023, showcasing a diverse selection of tracks from a range of genres. Taking to social media on December 29th, Obama shared his musical highlights of the year, featuring a mix of iconic artists and rising stars across the cultural spectrum.

Among the standout entries is the impactful collaboration between Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, titled “America Has a Problem.” The former president also paid homage to the vibrancy of the Black diaspora with nods to Tyla’s viral hit “Water,” Burna Boy‘s “Sittin On Top Of The World,” and Tems‘ soulful offering “Me & U.” The influence of UK Hip-Hop made its mark with Dave & Central Cee‘s “Sprinter” earning a spot on Obama’s list.

Diversity in musical styles continued with inclusions from artists such as Victoria Monét with “On My Mama,” Megan Thee Stallion, 6lack, Davido, Lenny Kravitz, Jon Batiste, Brent Faiyaz and Allison Russell.
